Conscious Living: Clarifying for the New Year
As I begin each New Year I make the strong intention to WAKE UP a little more than the previous year, to become more AWARE, and to LIVE CONSCIOUSLY in every way possible. Because I am still in a physical body I feel that I still have lots to learn about this!!
With this intention, a new year is a perfect time to become clear about your focus for the next quarter, six months, full year. I enjoy sharing various clarifying techniques with my clients so that they can start to manifest the life that they really want to create. I’ll share here with you a few conscious living tips:
- Take a little time each day to be still, get centered, breath, go INSIDE of yourself. You may just focus on your breath, repeat a positive affirmation or mantra, ask a question and then get out of the way to listen for an answer. In these quiet times is often when insights and inspiration will come to you.
- While you are quietly centered or during any other time, consciously list all of the things/ aspects/ people/ opportunities/ blessings in your life for which you are grateful. As you write them down or state them out loud allow your feelings of gratitude to wash over you. Bathe in the feelings. (Note how this will change your mood, attitude, disposition after you do this.)
- Take yourself on an inner journey to visit the person you wish to be at this time next year. Make careful note of ALL aspects of how your life will be a year from now – as you are intending it. You don’t need to worry about HOW this will come about. Now is your time to create the DREAM, so GO FOR IT!! Use all of your senses to describe the setting, your feelings, what it looks like around you, how you look, what you hear, what you smell, what you feel tangibly. Elaborate as much as you want. (I enjoy leading my clients in a guided meditation around this, and you can still create this exercise on your own if you allow 10-15 minutes of quiet, centered time. I often break the exercise into shorter segments where I invite my client to focus on the life aspect that provides the biggest challenge and is open to the most change now. Then I ask them to focus on the next highest priority aspect of life. Remember to have a pen & paper close by to take notes.)
- After doing this inner exercise I enjoy guiding my clients to adopt a daily, or at least weekly, new habit of “scripting” the scenarios they wish to create. In this short writing exercise you simply write out something as though it has already happened with the positive outcome that you wish to have. Especially describe the FEELINGS that you (and all of those involved) will have after your goal has been met or the result you intend has occurred. Your feelings around your intention lubricate the Universal gears that take care of the details that bring it forward.
These are just the beginning steps you can take to start to clarify the most appropriate goals for you in the new year. In a future segment I’ll take you into the specific aspects of life and how to VISION around them. Enjoy your process!!
