The Invisible Voice of Reason!

Well, it is Miracle Monday and I want to get out and take a walk in the rain, so this will be short… and still rather profound, as the experience itself was amazing!

While living in the San Francisco Bay area years ago I was having a stressful day. I had taken a business extention for finishing my yearly federal tax filing and intended to wrap up the process on the day before the extention was due. At the last minute I realized that I needed something that would take more time. Aaarggghhh! I hated doing taxes, especially for my business and for my husband’s too! And, the minutia was driving me crazy!

I was totally stressed and as the anxiety point reached a climax I heard a voice literally YELL at me… “Look at the due date!”

“Well,” I thought, “why would I need to look at the date when I know perfectly well it is tomorrow… and, who in the heck just yelled at me??!”

I was home alone, so this was pretty weird. Anyway I did look up the extention due date and, much to my surprise, I realized that it was not the 15th of the month, but was actually the end of the month, so I had an extra two weeks to finish the paperwork! I was so thankful! And, still amazed and awed, that “somebody” on the “other side” would have the kindness and interest to save me from an emotional meltdown.

I still look back on that occurrence as an amazing gift – and miracle!

Balanced Leadership

During my long career in Corporate America I often worked with female executives or mid managers on their way up. Because women in my generation had few executive women role models we often erroneously patterned our behavior after our male counterparts. There is nothing more disgusting than a female executive using masculine approaches to leadership and management. I know this from experience – I was a royal BITCH when I managed seventeen employees at the tender age of twenty-four. The job got done – WELL – but the people were not very happy with me. Still, twenty-plus years later some of my old employees are still running the institute that I created back then, so I must have done something right!

Balance is a key to all leadership and management – whether one is male or female. We all have both the YIN and YANG energies and need to learn to balance the feminine and masculine tendencies in ourselves. When we achieve good balance, where we can be strong, courageous, clear, and still compassionate, loving, and tender, THEN we will really be able to achieve as we also nurture and support others around us to grow. Employee retention will soar as quality and productivity improves, and the people will all be happier as a full-WIN situation is created.

When I was younger I was frustrated with the fact that I am an abstract thinker. I am an artist and an analytical mental-driven literal thinker. It used to be difficult to make decisions because I could always see both sides of an issue. I was caught up in a “black and white” world, and yet, I saw the full spectrum of colors in the rainbow. Situational Leadership and true balance in leader practices teaches one to be able to see and understand the full spectrum.

After many years directing corporate training and development I still have a love for business and helping leaders therein to find their own inner balance through conscious living practices. With balance comes more peace, love, and joy – as well as leadership and bottom-line success!!

Alchemy in Action

Isn’t it wonderful when nature applauds an action that we take??  Yesterday when I was facilitating my tele-course “30 Days to Emotional Freedom for the New Year… and the Rest of Your Life”, I took some risks. [http://is.gd/cgO4 ]

Years ago I lived in northern California. I connected with holistic health experts, extraterrestrial groups, energy workers, savvy business executives, trance channelers, world-level corporate managers, artists, earth people, high tech designers, all kinds of ethnic groups spanning all socio-economic levels. It was such a wonderful time for me to expand and take it all in. I started my business there in 1985 and it grew. I nurtured my clients and outwardly labeled myself a spiritual business consultant and trainer. The business and I were really ready to take off when my then husband decided that he would take a job in Charlotte, North Carolina. In our move I cried as I drove all the way across the country. I love the west. I love California. I love the people and the openness out there. At that time in Charlotte I found that many women’s psychological and emotional profiles were at least 50 years behind those of California women. People and businesses were conservative. I was almost crucified on stage several times as I spoke my “truth” for large audiences who had invited me to speak. Contracts were broken, people snubbed me,… until I conformed and put on a mask. I learned to quote the Bible and changed my semantics so that nobody would recognize me as the Alchemist, Metaphysician, Healer that I really am. I denied myself.

So, while I was presenting my class yesterday, now in my new life, new home, with very different circumstances all around me, I took the risk of BEing ME. I just dove in and DID IT. And, the energy swirled around the house. My wonderful cabin on top of my mountain was engulfed with a mini-blizzard. Even though it was warmer than freezing, the storm clouds whipped wind and snow around the cabin, against the windows, up the mountainside onto my deck. I thought maybe I would lose my electricity and my phone line, but I did not. It was beautiful to behold the 100 foot pines dancing back and forth in the strong wind and horizontally blowing snow. Wow. The energy show of nature!!

I took it all as a pat on the back from the Universe for doing a good job and BEing ME!! And so, from here on I will be having even MORE FUN than before because I will move forward totally in my TRUTH, being the Alchemist, Metaphysician, Healer that I really am!!  ;-) )

Love, Light, and Miracles

Yesterday I started the First Day of Winter by performing in a Methodist church in western North Carolina. Several times this season I have enjoyed playing flute with wonderful piano accompanyment from a friend who is music director there. After sundown I enjoyed celebrating Erev Hanukkah with family members in Atlanta, Georgia. On the shortest day of the year it was a day celebrating LOVE, LIGHT, and MIRACLES.

The young, energetic minister in the morning church service talked about the Miracle of a very special Jewish child being born on Christmas, and how the last Sunday of Advent signified the LOVE associated with the season, and the MIRACLE of the birth. The LIGHT of the Advent candle celebrated the end of darkness and the beginning of moving into the light with the birth of Jesus.

The evening family gathering brought together three generations. The children helped the elders create space for the evening meal and lighting of the first Hanukkah candle. The delicious meal was prepared as a sharing of LOVE by several family members – we all contributed so that none of us had the full burden of the meal. Words were said in Hebrew, a song was sung in English, and the candle was lit commemorating the MIRACLE of the LIGHT that kept burning in ancient days.

In Spiritual circles, LOVE and LIGHT are the basic tenets that result in MIRACLES of transformation. In the Spirituality of my own Alchemy I utilize love and light as healing tools – with individuals and organizations. Sometimes people realize the power behind the scenes of what I am doing. Sometimes they don’t. Often they believe in what I am doing, and sometimes they don’t. It doesn’t matter what a person believes. When LOVE and LIGHT are involved, MIRACLES are always the result!!

I wish all of you readers a very Blessed Holiday Season – full of Love, Light, and MIRACLES!!

Spirit in Business – The Early Years

In the mid-1980′s I was fortunate to be living in the Bay Area of northern California. With trepidation I had moved there with my ex-husband who was in chiropractic school. I was welcomed by the most professional, highly educated, open-minded, free-thinking, creative people that I had ever met. I fit right in and began a rapid evolutionary spiral that seemed to just be gathering mach speed when I moved with my husband to North Carolina.

Even in the 80′s the San Jose Mercury News and the local Business Journal newspapers had separate columns entitled “Spirit in Business”. Networking was a big thing in Silicon Valley and most of the many organizations and meetings I attended had a Spirit-based theme, whether it was marketing, management, sales, or simply cross-pollination of various industry representatives. I chaired one of the oldest women’s business networking organizations – Professional Connections for Women – which had been started in the early 1970′s as a dare to women from Gloria Steinhem to create our own “girl’s network” to complement the “good old boy’s” network. Every speaker that we sponsored had a speaking theme of Spirit. It was so wonderful to be able to talk openly about spirituality within business parameters!

When I moved to NC I took a more traditional approach because that was required of me. I learned to speak of Spirit in very Christian terms, and quoted the Bible in order to better speak the language of the locals. It took almost twenty years before Spirit in Business hit the mainstream of Corporate America, and many books have been written with this theme since then. In the meantime I had not given up my own convictions of ensuring that Spirit WAS and IS incorporated into all business. I served as Director of Training and Development for several large corporations, and often I was approached by people who recognized that even though my semantics didn’t always blatantly show it, I was definitely talking about taking Spirit into business as I presented my training programs. I wrote a weekly newspaper column, “Business Basics” for The Enquirer Journal newspaper, and readers often contacted me about the different kinds of approaches I took to dealing with regular business topics.

Today I am totally open about my spiritual convictions, and society is more ready to receive what I have to say. Other trailblazers like me have helped to make the way clear so that people can claim Spirit and incorporate that major aspect of life into all of the roles they play. It is so much easier now, and I am grateful that I live in a country where I CAN claim my convictions without persecution!!
